Hosted overseas: do I need an ICP filing, and will it load in China?

For: Companies serving overseas buyers and a team in China

Short answer

Sites hosted outside mainland China generally do not need an ICP filing; sites on mainland servers must have one. Speed from inside China depends on the network route, so we self-host all fonts, images and video instead of relying on third-party resources that are unreliable there.

Our defaults

No Google Fonts or external image hosts that often fail inside China; Chinese fonts load in on-demand slices; images are converted to modern formats and compressed. Before launch we check that key pages open on real networks.

Note

ICP rules follow the latest requirements of MIIT and your hosting provider. We advise on the technical setup only and do not file on your behalf.
